Series 16VM, Wiring with Resistors or Potentiometer

The Series 16VM is like the Series 16M relay, but with the added flexibility of field adjustable sensitivity.  You can adjust the sensitivity by using resistors, or from the potentiometer, part number 16Z1VG.  Below explains how to use each in detail.

Potentiometer Option:

The potentiometer option is selected in section 2 of the part configuration section “Mode of Operation”.  Option ‘Y’ is selected for Direct Mode, and Option ‘Z’ is selected for Inverse Mode.

The potentiometer will be wired to terminals 6, 7, and 8 as shown on the adjacent image.

The below diagram shows the approximate positions to set the potentiometers in for the desired sensitivity.  Both pots should be set to the same sensitivity.

Resistors Option:

The resistor option is selected in section 2 of the part configuration section “Mode of Operation”.  Option ‘A’ is selected for Direct Mode, and Option ‘K’ is selected for Inverse Mode.

The other sensitivity options are still covered since the pack of resistors comes with all those options.  The below chart shows the color codes of the resistors so they can be easily identified.

When wiring for a single level service, like high- or low-level alarm, you still need to wire two resistors.  One resistor is connected to 6 and 7, and the other resistor is connected to 7 and 8.  Both resistors need to be the same value.
